Of threats and the fools who make them

There are occasions when what I write and report about touches some raw nerves, I step on toes and ruffle feathers. As a result I have in the past gotten threats, some quite explicit and leaving no doubt what the respective individuals would do should they get their hands on me. Eritrean regime sycophants not happy as I fingered the regime over their complicity vis a vis Al Shabab and terror groups sent into Ethiopia. Ethiopians not happy about my reporting on their misguided Gibe III project which threatens the survival of Lake Turkana and the communities living there. Tanzanian officials who did not like being exposed over their ludicrous plans for the Serengeti Highway, the Uranium mining in the Selous, the Stiegler’s Gorge power plant plans or their follies to convert the habitat of the prehistoric Coelacanth fish into a harbour.
I rarely pay much attention to it but block the individuals from my mail and blog comments.
Today another obnoxious individual, named Geza Ulole with the following details, has reared his ugly head and equally uttered threats.

If u sneak ur nose in Arusha, i will deal with u since u r a stupid man blocking my posts yet u victimize my country on ur biased coverage!

Clearly he cannot take the heat and thinks he is as clever as they come, hiding in obscurity. Yet, here are his details for all to see, in case he intends to make good of his threats.
Again, he as others have been blocked, reported to the right authorities and he perhaps is now looking over his own shoulders or awaiting a knock on his door in the wee hours of the day.

Nothing will ever stop me from writing, no one will ever intimidate or bribe me into not telling a story or telling the story from how I see it.

Thanks to the nearly 300.000 readers of my articles who take what I write in good spirit and when the interact with me do so with respect and civility.

This one clearly does not understand either respect nor civility, so let him stand exposed and should readers know him or of him, spread the word what misguided, angry, vengeful and borderline criminal we are dealing with here.

Warmest as always from my lake shores.
Wolfgang

Aviation, tourism, travel and conservation news – DAILY from Eastern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands posted: “There are occasions when what I write and report about touches some raw nerves, I step on toes and ruffle feathers. As a result I have in the past gotten threats, some quite explicit and leaving no doubt what the respective individuals would do should they”

  2. TOTALLY agree with Bo above. Your information about East African travel and tourism news is of great interest to me here in the UK. Keep going Wolfgang!
    Cheers

  3. Keep it up, Wolfgang. Great Blog. Unfortunately, most Africans have lived so long in dictatorships that they have been conditioned not to accept criticism. Very sad, because only through critical thinking will this continent move forward. Kenya is learning that. Tanzania is still a bit behind…

  4. Dear Prof, We know the corrupt-minded will always intimidate and threaten you. But these are cowards and should be ignored completely. l come from Kenya and am now working in Uganda–General Manager Fairway Hotel and Spa and l have been following your updated Dailies religiously since when you started. I remember when l was working in Tanzania Last year l used to forward your emails to my friends in the Hospitality Industry there and l was also threatened by TANAPA by an article which you had written insinuating that Tanzania was considering opening the Liboi Border Post for tourists visiting Serengeti from Masai Mara could just cross rather than driving all the way to Namanga. *PLEASE TALK COURAGE WE ARE WITH YOU. SHAME ON YOU GEZA…STYLE UP PLEASE!!1*

  5. am not surprised by this……. worry not threats are for cowards. its only a matter of time before it explodes on their faces. am not only i fun but i do follow and i get so much from your blogs and all the articles in here are always comfirmed later by press so am wondering what is his problem anyway.

  6. That fellow from TZ behaves like a rabid dog but no one should worry, he will drown in his own bile. Thank you for highlighting so many issues and covering East Africa like non one else. Here in Uganda we know your contributions to tourism and education and will forever be grateful for your services.
