Oman Air confirms the launch of Nairobi flights from end March

OMAN AIR SET TO LAUNCH MUSCAT – NAIROBI FLIGHTS

(Posted 15th March 2017)

Come 27th of March, less than two weeks from today, will Oman Air launch a four times a week service from Muscat to Nairobi, using a Boeing B737-800NG on the route.
The flights will leave Muscat every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 14.50 hrs local time and are scheduled to land in the Kenyan capital at 18.55 hrs local time,
The return flights are then leaving at 00.45 hrs the following day, i.e. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, landing at 06.50 hrs in time for connections into the fast growing international and regional network of the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman.
Mr. Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, the Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President- Commercial, said when confirming the new destination: ‘This new Oman Air route to the Kenyan capital Nairobi is a significant development for both countries. Trade between Kenya and Oman has been growing steadily over the years and I hope this new flight will facilitate the increase in bilateral trade and investment opportunities. We are committed to ensuring that our guests have greater choice and the opportunity to discover new destinations with Oman Air and we are delighted to be offering thousands more business and leisure travellers the opportunity to travel between Oman and Kenya and beyond‘.Hopes by the Kenya coast tourism fraternity that the flights might route via Mombasa however were not fulfilled, largely due to the hurdles the Kenyan authorities place in the way of foreign airlines to land in Mombasa.
In a related development has Oman Air last year leased two of Kenya Airways’ Boeing B787 Dreamliners while Kenya’s national airline is undergoing restructuring and financial consolidation.
