REUNION BAGS PRIZE AS BEST EXHIBITOR AT 10THBEELD HOLIDAY SHOW

Reunion Tourism was recognized as best exhibitor in the small stand category during the just concluded Beeld Holiday Show in Johannesburg, where IRT promoted holidays to the island together with home carrier Air Austral.
The island has become hugely popular among South Africans who now no longer need a Visa to fly to St. Denis, after a special Visa Waiver programme was implemented for holders of South African nationality. Many, according to a source at IRT, come to the French Indian Ocean island for short getaways on the beaches, though more and more enjoy the wide range of adventure activities now available for tourists. From whitewater rafting to abseiling over the massive rockfaces in the interior of the island, from paragliding to to mountain biking and to hikes around one of the world’s most active volcanoes, from watching whales and dolphins to diving the pristine waters around the island, there is little which cannot be found when criss crossing the island. Helicopter tours are among the most popular excursions, showing the extent of the island’s rugged interior with deep canyons, steep abysses and yet lush landscapes intersected by rivers fed from waterfalls gushing down the rockfaces.
Reunion will also be at the forthcoming ITB in Berlin where as a member of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Island Organziation it is expected to promote not just their own attractions but also showcase the highlights of their neighbours like Madagascar or fellow French region Mayotte.
