(Posted 21st August 2014)

Vanilla Islands founder member Reunion continues the market offensive in Germany and partnered with leading long haul touroperator Meier’s Weltreisen. Dortmund, Dresden, Cologne, Frankfurt and Nuremberg’s tourism trade was targeted and over 300 participants from travel agencies attended the informative sessions.

Germany marketing director for Reunion, Marie-Christin Strecker was at hand with her and Meier’s Weltreisen staff to conduct the workshops and showcase the wide range of attractions of the French Indian Ocean island.

Reunion Tourism stated their objectives for the roadshow to be:

  • provide more visibility to the meeting on the German market;
  • strengthen the position of the destination;
  • to develop the reputation of the island;
  • sustain links with German tourism professionals;
  • increasing sales of tourism professionals in the German market.

An increasing number of German tourists are now visiting Reunion, cognizant of the fact that the destination is safe and secure, giving them peace of mind in the knowledge that a tropical island holiday in the Indian Ocean, while staying within a European Union member country, is offering alternatives to destinations plagued by travel advisories.

Meanwhile has Vente-Privee.com launched a series of special offers for holidays on Reunion, be it for just a beachside vacation of for an active adventure holiday where visitors can sample such attractions as white water rafting, abseiling, paragliding, diving, whale and dolphin watching, hiking along hundreds of kilometres of well marked trails in the rugged interior of the island or explore a live volcano, the Piton de la Fournaise from the air or on foot when walking up to the crater. Combination visits to Mauritius are also available.
