Reunion teams up with Air Austral for India marketing campaign

IRT and Air Austral join hands

to market in India

The Reunion Island Tourism (IRT) has partnered with home airline Air Austral to train travel agents and tour operators in Chennai and Pondicherry on travel to the island. These training sessions took place shortly before the second high season period from July to September, aiming to expand sales to Reunion from India.

On the 29th of April and the 02nd of May were ten travel agents and tour operators from Chennai and Pondicherry participating in training provided by the IRT and Air Austral. These training sessions conducted jointly by the Regional Tourist Board of Reunion and the regional airline are the first of their kind.

The training, which took place at the IFCCI Chennai and the French Alliance of Pondicherry, allowed the person in charge of promotion for ESRD in India Anne-Laure Payet and representatives of Air Austral to meet Indian professionals keenly interested by the offers Reunion has to give. After a detailed presentation of the island of Reunion and the airline, it was time to promote trade between professionals of Indian tourism and Reunion . These interviews helped to better understand the expectations of tour operators but also to know their challenges.

The attractiveness of the direct flight

Chennai – Reunion

As part of the development of the Indian market according to the strategy implemented by the IRT, the two weekly rotations performed by Air Austral between Chennai and Reunion tend to expand the number of arrivals of Indian travelers on the island’s territory. This direct flight proves to be a decisive argument in promoting a trip to the island of Reunion.

New joint training ahead

This training allowed the IRT and Air Austral staff to meet new travel agents and tour operators in the Indian market. These professionals are left with commercial arguments not only allowing them to take ownership of the tourist offer Reunion but also to improve their sales to Reunion. Following the success of the first two training sessions, additional sessions conducted in collaboration between the IRT and Air Austral will be organized, including a second workshop in Chennai and Bangalore.
