REUNION’S ACTIVE VOLCANO PROVIDES ANOTHER ERUPTION SPECTACLE

One of the world’s most active volcanos, the Piton de la Fournaise on the French Indian Ocean island of Reunion, has earlier this week erupted again.
Reunion Island Tourism, or IRT, has released a video of the current eruption.

This is the second eruption of the year, the earlier one lasting from the 19th of February until the 10th of March, which was a rare full eruption with major lava flows at high speed running down the slopes of the mountain.
While the volcano is not posing any dangers to the populated areas of the island is access during an eruption however restricted although safe viewing points are open for tourists as are more distant overflights by helicopter of microlights.
Meanwhile is IRT also present at this week’s Madagascar International Tourism Fair, which is part of the Vanilla Islands calendar of events. This is the 8th edition of this tourism fair, again taking place at the International Conference Centre of Ivato.
