News have only just emerged that Mr. Joram Nyanzi was, effective beginning of June, appointed Rift Valley Railways’ new General Manager Western. He will be based in Kampala and oversee the operations and commercial side of the railway operator from the Kenyan western part of the Rift Valley to Uganda.
The company has almost completed now a major investment programme worth nearly 300 million US Dollars aimed at improving critical sections of the rail line which were previously accident prone, but also to add to the rolling stock and locomotive fleet.
A simulator was installed to train new drivers who can now do virtual journeys from Mombasa via Nairobi to Kampala, as were cargo tracking systems improving the flow of a sharply increased uplift from East Africa’s most important Indian Ocean port to Uganda.
Joram joined RVR from Spedag Interfreight where he served as Managing Director for several years until the end of May.
