RWANDAIR SELECTS ROLLS ROYCE TRENT 700 ENGINES FOR THEIR AIRBUS A330’S
(Posted 27th July 2015)
RwandAir has just confirmed that they have selected the proven Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines for their two Airbus A330-200 aircraft which were ordered for delivery in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
When making the announcement earlier today did John Mirenge, CEO of RwandAir, comment as follows: ‘“We look forward to working with Rolls-Royce as the Trent 700 delivers efficient, reliable power for new aircraft that will open up new routes to Asia and Europe’.
The two new aircraft now on order will allow RwandAir for the first time in its history to operate long haul passenger services, other than the present codeshared flights operated by partner airlines. Both aircraft will be delivered as another first for RwandAir with a three class cabin configuration, no doubt meeting the expectations of the most discerning travelers.
The chosen Trent engines are broadly recognized as state of the art propulsion options and have captured a market share of 60 percent over their nearest competitors while for the Airbus A330F their market share stands at 90 percent.
