Russian Market: Mauritius participates in the MITT 2014 Fair Moscow

A delegation of 12 persons including local tourism stakeholders and headed by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority is currently present at the 21st edition of the Moscow International exhibition “MITT Travel and Tourism” which is being held from 19th to 22nd March in Moscow. The Moscow International Travel and Tourism (MITT) is one of the most important exhibitions of the Russian travel industry with 3,000 participating companies and representatives from 185 destinations.

Present on a stand of 85 m2, the Mauritian tourism stakeholders are expected to promote the beauty and multiple facets of the destination throughout this exhibition. They will showcase the tourism product and the special offers which Mauritius offers to travelers. The main objective is to increase the visibility of Mauritius on the Russian market and to attract more Russian travelers.

In fact, the MITT fair is an opportunity to network with partners in the Russian tourism industry including tour operators, travel agents and airlines’ representatives among others. In addition, the MITT enjoys good international media coverage. According to organizers, this forum welcomes more than 300 international journalists and over 80 publications specialized in travel and tourism. Therefore, the MTPA will seize this opportunity to meet the international press so as to enjoy good coverage and increase the visibility of Mauritius.

After the MITT FAIR 2014, the MTPA and the local stakeholders are planning to organize a roadshow in the two major cities of Russia namely Rostov on Don and Krasnodar on the 24th and 26th of March respectively. More than 100 tour operators are expected in both cities as well as the media.

The delegation, headed by Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, included hotels and inbound tour operators: Beachcomber, Veranda Leisure & Hospitality, Sun Resorts Ltd, Attitude Resorts, Lux Resorts, White Sand Tours, Mautourco, Sega Tours, Solis Indian Ocean, Emotions Destination Management and Luxe Voyage.

  1. Very interesting post about the new Russian Market coming to Mauritius. The only thing is that the delegation going to Russia is not advertising on one of the most growing market in Mauritius : The villa rental.
Unfortunatly only big hotel can afford the to be on these kind of fairs but MTPA maybe should allow a budget to advertise also on different, off the beaten tracks , ways to visit Mauritius.
For instance villa rental : http://www.odyssea.mu/
