RwandAir’s first flight to Tel Aviv, WB 502, has just taken off from Kigali International Airport.
Flights are now available three times a week, giving pilgrims from East Africa to the Holy Land another choice how to get there, besides providing regular travel opportunities for passengers traveling to Israel on business.
Israel and Rwanda enjoy close and friendly relations, resulting in the airline being granted landing rights in Tel Aviv under a new bilateral air services agreement.
RwandAir uses a Boeing B737-800NG on the route, configured with a two class cabin layout of business and economy.

Passengers on the inaugural service were given a treat by the airline in the departure lounge when gifts were handed out including a free ticket to any of the airline’s East African destinations which include Entebbe, Juba, Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

By launching Tel Aviv has RwandAir outfoxed Kenya Airways, which had also announced plans to fly to Israel but ran into overflight right challenges with the Republic of Sudan, forcing the airline to postpone their launch to a later stage.

RwandAir continues to expand their route network with additional African destinations due to come online later this year, besides the keenly awaited flights from Kigali to New York, for which the required operating permits, security approvals and licences are being processed right now.
