When RwandAir launched the route to Cape Town on the 16th last month was the initial aircraft of choice a Bombardier CRJ900, flying out of Kigali via Harare to the ‘Mother City‘.

While in Cape Town for the #AviaDev2018 conference was it learned however that RwandAir will switch to the larger Boeing B737-800NG with immediate effect as a result of fast growing demand in particular on the Harare – Cape Town route which the airline can serve under fifth freedom rights.

The success on the route will be music in the ears of the airline’s management to once again getting a new route right, similar to flights launched in April to Abuja, the Nigerian capital.

Cape Town is after Johannesburg, a city served daily out of Kigali, the second destination of RwandAir in South Africa.
