When the awards for the three award categories of Sanganai 2016 were announced on Saturday night at Bulawayo’s famous Nesbitt Castle, did it come as no surprise for visitors of the show who came out on top.
While stands like ‘Zambia Tourism‘ and ‘Incredible India‘ offered a fair challenge to claim a win in their category, was it in the end the Zimbabwe Civil Aviation authority which claimed not one, not two but all three key awards on the night.
CAAZ’s name was called out for being judged as the best exhibitor of any Zimbabwean Public Institution for their stand layout and of course for the competence of their staff and interaction with buyers and the public at large. Next did CAAZ then claim the award as best stand from Zimbabwe before, to crown it all, they also walked away from the ceremony with the biggest trophy of them all, the award as Best Exhibitor for Sanganai 2016 overall.

Notably did CAAZ also offer airlines registered in Zimbabwe, like Fastjet and Executive Air, stand space to exhibit and promote aviation services across the country, though national airline Air Zimbabwe had their own stand.
The ongoing revival of the airline is reportedly gathering momentum with the recent launch of three times a week flights to Dar es Salaam while the planning for a return to London Gatwick is reportedly advancing well along internal timelines. Towards that end is a retrofitting of the airline’s Boeing B767 under consideration to introduce the latest cabin standards on the route, which, when commencing, will be the only nonstop flight from Britain to Zimbabwe.
The national carrier is reportedly also looking at additional destinations in Africa, such as Malawi and Kenya, though no final decisions have been taken at this stage.
