SAROVA WHITESANDS AIMS FOR FIVE STAR RANKING AS FINAL PHASE OF UPGRADES NOW UNDERWAY

Sarova Hotels is presently investing a further 400 million Kenya Shillings in a room upgrade at their Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa north of Mombasa, located along the famous Bamburi beach.
The hotel group has already spent about a billion Kenya Shillings up to now on room and public areas upgrades and refurbishments and the present work phase now leaves just 90 of the overall 338 rooms and suites to be completed.
At the last hotel ranking was the resort inexplicably only awarded four stars, causing some consternation and questions marks by industry observers but it is expected that after all the rooms have been refurbished and upgraded, at the next round a full five star ranking will be awarded to Sarova’s coastal flagship property.
The coast tourism industry, following the launch two days ago of the Blu Panorama charter flights from Milan to Mombasa, showed signs of renewed market confidence though the upcoming general and presidential elections on the 08th of August are still looming large on the horizon of the sector.
