Serena give their luxurious Selous properties a rainy season makeover

THE SELOUS – WHERE NOT ONE BUT TWO OF SERENA’S LUXURIOUS CAMPS AWAIT YOU

(Posted 28th April 2017)

After every rainy season, a new sense of life, beauty and peace is restored back into the Selous. The dust and the winds have died down and in their place has a green and lush landscape taken shape again, characterized by tall grass and thriving woodlands.
The Rufiji River which is the lifeline of the world’s largest game reserve is flowing strongly and riverine life is at its best. Hippos can be seen dotted throughout the river while many crocodiles are taking advantage of the sunshine to bask. With the rich vegetation, the wildlife is vibrant with visitors able to see large herds of buffaloes but also elephants, waterbucks, lion prides and leopards. The list is long and sightings of game during game drives or on the boat cruises along the Rufiji river are guaranteed.
Of course is the Selous also a paradise for the bird watchers. Many bird calls, before they are even seen, announce their presence and make for the perfect background sounds far better than hooting horns or vendors’ shouts in the city.
The day in fact dawns to a concerto of bird voices, the kind of greeting tourists can only dream of at home.
