Seychelles aviation news – Ethiopian postpones Seychelles flights on eve of inaugural

FLIGHTS TO SEYCHELLES POSTPONED
Soon after a meeting between the Seychellois tourism gurus and senior Ethiopian Airlines staff on the sidelines of the World Tourism Market in London, when future cooperation was discussed, was it learned that ET has now postponed the start of flights between Addis Ababa and Mahe for operational reasons, a purely non descript answer to questions fielded in Mahe who were wondering what had prompted this decision and when flights would now finally commence.
It was reported here a few weeks ago that Ethiopian Airlines had committed to regular flights, using a B737-800 for the service, and this was widely welcomed by the Seychelles tourism industry, as more seats mean more promotions, more marketing abroad and more visitors to the archipelago.
Said a regular source from Victoria overnight: We were also surprised to hear of the decision to postpone the inaugural flight and are waiting for more details. All we also heard was that it was for operational reasons, but we could not find out if they lack aircraft, or if they lacked traffic and bookings or why else this would be announced on the eve of the first flight when we were all waiting to welcome Ethiopian Airlines to the Seychelles.
