Seychelles Carnival combines with Festival Kreol from 2017 onwards

NEW EVENT AGENCY IN THE SEYCHELLES COMBINES TWO KEY FESTIVALS INTO ONE

(Posted 20th January 2017)

News are now coming out of the Seychelles, confirming what has been an almost open secret, that the annual Carnival International de Victoria will be combined from later this year onwards with the Festival Kreol, both probably to be held in October this year with dates however still to be confirmed.
The Seychelles government has formed a special body, the ‘Creative Industries and National Events Agency‘ which is now tasked to organize such major events, leaving the Seychelles Tourism Board to concentrate on the generic marketing of the archipelago.

The CEO of the new agency, Mr. Gaelan Bresson, confirmed the ‘merger‘ of the Seychelles’ two most important festivals and word from Victoria has it that by doing so will the Festival Kreol be given new momentum while the Kreol culture will be more visible at the Carnival event.
Regular participants like the international troupes from Notting Hill, Brazil, the Caribbean and other parts of the world have been notified to give them ample time to prepare for a date later in the year.
The Carnival, launched in 2011, is largely seen as a brainchild of UNWTO Secretary General Candidate Alain St. Ange when he was CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board and has grown in popularity making the top five of the global carnival festivals in the space of just a few years.
