Seychelles named as the world’s leading honeymoon destination by WTA

AND THE AWARD GOES TO … SEYCHELLES

(Posted 05th December 2016)

The Seychelles triumphed at the global World Travel Award ceremony held on fellow Vanilla Island member Maldives when the archipelago was named as the world’s leading Honeymoon Destination, following an overwhelming vote by people working in the industry as well as travelers.
The Friday evening Gala Night saw over 250 tourism leaders fly to Male to attend the award ceremony, crowning the various regional events held earlier in the year.
The award was generally seen as a resounding endorsement of the Seychelles’ marketing juggernaut which has made the islands popular around the world and contributed to a new arrival record already established at the very beginning of December. Exceeding the total arrival figures of 2015 does this give rise to hope that at the end of the year the magical figure of 300.000 visitors may be reached, supported by ever more airlines flying to the international airport on the main island of Mahe.
Said Mrs. Sherin Francis, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board: ‘For me when you mention Seychelles, it’s synonymous to romance, weddings and honeymoon. So the award reiterates the message that is always stressed on during our marketing events, that Seychelles is one of the world’s best honeymoon destinations‘.
Congratulations to the team at the Seychelles Tourism Board.
