Air Seychelles has advised earlier in the day changes to their schedule due to a present state of emergency announced by the country’s President.
Extremely heavy rains coupled with a explosion at the main CCCL explosives store on Mahe Island, which has seen dark fumes drift across the island and also the airport, led to the decision.
Said Air Seychelles:
‘Dear Guests,
Due to the State of Emergency our Sales and Reservations Office is closed.
Please reach us on the following numbers if you require any immediate assistance with your bookings.
+248 2633 795
+248 261 3251
+248 251 4500
+248 257 5639
Kindly note we are maintaining our domestic flights to connect to and from international flights but however other flights are operating with consolidations.
Please stay safe everyone.’

President Wavel Ramkalawan also held a press conference a short while ago, informing the media, both local and international, as well as the citzens of the Seychelles and visitors to the islands, of the situation and what the government’s emergency response teams are doing to contain the damages and prevent more.
A YouTube upload of the press conference is available now and ATCNews has shared it with readers
