#BreakingNews as #Seychelles placed under #StateofEmergency due to heavy rains and a major explosion in the industrial area

(Posted 07th December 2023)

Air Seychelles has advised earlier in the day changes to their schedule due to a present state of emergency announced by the country’s President.

Extremely heavy rains coupled with a explosion at the main CCCL explosives store on Mahe Island, which has seen dark fumes drift across the island and also the airport, led to the decision.

Said Air Seychelles:

President Wavel Ramkalawan also held a press conference a short while ago, informing the media, both local and international, as well as the citzens of the Seychelles and visitors to the islands, of the situation and what the government’s emergency response teams are doing to contain the damages and prevent more.
A YouTube upload of the press conference is available now and ATCNews has shared it with readers

ATCNews expresses our hopes that no fatalities were suffered and wishes those affected the best.
