Four floors of the Sheraton Kampala Hotel are earmarked to undergo a major transformation as the room product is being upgraded.
It is understood that the 07th floor of the hotel is already close to being reopened again, having been taken out of operation, and subsequently will floors 6, 5 and 4 equally undergo refurbishment, one floor at the time.
This will be welcome news to the regular clientele of the hotel, which, located in the heart of Kampala with ample and secure parking, has been Uganda’s grand ol’ dame of hotel keeping as all other of the erstwhile hotels from the olden days have faltered or seen their reputation migrate to lower levels.
Initially opened 51 years ago as the Apollo Hotel did Sheraton, a Starwood Brand now under Marriott Hotels, get the management contract in the late 1980’s and has since been turned into a Sheraton franchise along a sister property in Djibouti, also owned and operated by Constellation Hotels (www.constellationhospitality.com)

The Sheraton Kampala, still the undisputed number two in Kampala after the Kampala Serena Hotel, has long left an important mark on the city’s hospitality business through both service delivery and food quality, and when the room refurbishments have been completed over the coming months, will the entire hotel appear with a new shine.
