NEW DESTINATION TO SUPPORT TRADE AND TOURISM

Following the acquisition of two Fokker 50 aircraft, recently reported on ATCNews’ social media platforms, has Silverstone now announced the launch of flights between Wilson Airport and the western Kenyan town of Homa Bay.
The additional aircraft will further help to increase frequencies to other destinations across Kenya as well as provide backup aircraft.
This comes hot on the heels of the airline also launching services between Wilson Airport and Wajir (https://atcnews.org/2019/05/29/silverstone-adds-wajir-route-to-network/) which commenced in June. Earlier in the year did Silverstone also add flights to Eldoret.
Homa Bay is the springboard to Rusinga Island, famous for many reasons but of late best known for the annual Rusinga Cultural Festival (https://atcnews.org/2019/07/19/rusingafestival2019-mark-your-diary/) (https://atcnews.org/2019/08/09/the-rusinga-festival-and-how-to-get-there/). The Ruma National Park, formerly known as Lambwe Valley National Park, one of the last refuges for the endangered Roan antelope, is also close to Homa Bay and tourists can now, without the use of expensive air charters, fly to this new destination as of 02nd of September, according to the airline’s Sales Manager Patrick Oketch.
The daily services will leave Wilson at 07.30 hrs, land at Homa Bay’s Kabunde airstrip at 08.15 hrs and the return directly to Nairobi, landing at Wilson again at 09.25 hrs.
