The noble idea to promote East African unity through a cycling race across the five core countries of the East African Community, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda, has gained further momentum when the group called upon the EAC Secretariat in Arusha yesterday where they were received with open arms.
The East African Business Council, a private sector business platform associated with the EAC, is in fact is preparing to enter into an MoU with the Tour D’EAC for the 2020 event, after giving the group a cash gift of 300.000 Tanzania Shillings to help with expenses to run the event.
A subsequent visit to the Arusha GIZ offices, also a major supporter of the East African Community, yielded even more material support to the group as they were given 50 kgs of rice, 50 kgs of maize flour and had their service vehicle fueled up before departure from Arusha.

The tour is now enroute to traverse Tanzania before entering Burundi, the 4th country of this year’s race across the region.
