Skyward announced launch date for Mombasa to Lamu flights

FINALLY BECOMING REALITY – FLIGHTS FROM MOMBASA TO LAMU

(Posted 07th March 2017)

Come the end of the month, notably into the Easter period and the subsequent low season at the Kenya coast, has Skyward Express announced their long awaited launch of flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport via Mombasa to the ancient town of Lamu.
Operating daily will Skyward offer a morning service all the way to Lamu and back while in the afternoon then offering a second daily flight to Mombasa and back, again originating from Wilson Airport.
Many more travelers on domestic routes are now giving JKIA the cold shoulder and opt for flying from Wilson Airport, where, at albeit higher fares, the are not subjected to the traffic along the highway to the airport and are spared too the absolutely not weatherproof checkpoint before reaching the airport proper.
Safarilink in particular has gained more passengers for their Lamu and Ukunda / Vipingo services as has Air Kenya on their flights to Lamu and Malindi and Skyward will no doubt also seek to exploit the better image of Wilson Airport for domestic flights as opposed to the international airport.
Skyward intends to use a Bombardier Dash 8-300 on the route.
Happy Landings to crews and passengers when flights commence on 31st of March.
