ENTEBBE – JOHANNESBURG FLIGHTS CUT TO JUST 3 PER WEEK

The once upon a time 8 flights per week service between Johannesburg and Entebbe will soon be a thing of the past after South African Airways confirmed that effective 09th of October there will be only three flights a week on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Flights from South Africa to Uganda used to enjoy a very high load factor for a long time and questions are being asked what went wrong that such drastic cuts had to be made by the loss making national airline of South Africa and if Uganda as a destination has fallen out of favour with South Africans who used to come in their droves for business and leisure, many of them fishing Uganda’s lakes and rivers.
Options now are that passengers to and from Uganda route their journey via Nairobi where Kenya Airways operates multiple flights each day to Johannesburg but also to Cape Town (via Livingstone and Victoria Falls) or via Kigali where RwandAir offers a daily service.
Other African destinations affected are Brazzaville via Point Noire, Douala via Libreville, Cotonou via Libreville, Kinshasa and Luanda which all will see flights reduced to between one and three a week only.
– Effective September 25th, flight SA084 JNB-PNR-BZV-JNB will operate on Fridays only. Currently the airline services the route on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
-Effective October 09th, flight SA086 JNB-LBV-DLA , Fridays only. Currently the airline services this route on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
– Effective October 09th, flight SA050 JNB-FIH will operate on Sundays and Thursdays. Currently the airline services the route on Sundays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
– Effective October 09th, flight SA160 JNB-EBB will operate on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.
– Effective October 09th, SAA will operate JNB-LAD on Sundays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Currently the airline services the route daily.
– Effective November 01st, flight SA090 JNB-LBV-COO will operate on Mondays and Saturdays. Currently the airline services the route on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
