SEYCHELLES TOURISM ACADEMY ANNOUNCES DATES FOR NEXT COOKING COMPETITION

(Posted 30th May 2014)

Following the successful conclusion of the 2013/14 cooking competition, organized by the Seychelles Tourism Academy and aimed to improve culinary standards in hotels and resorts across the archipelago, has STA now announced that the next competition will commence with the preliminary trials in September this year before the finals will take place between 04th and 06th of November at the academy in La Misere.

This year’s finalists, 15 out of initially 60 contestants made it that far, performed their culinary arts during a recent gala dinner where they showcased their signature dishes with the three overall winners in the categories of starter, main course and dessert taking home impressive prizes like air tickets from Air Seychelles, accommodation from Constance Hotels and cash prices by Cable & Wireless.

The gala raised 150.000 Seychelles Rupees which were earlier in the week handed over by the CEO of the Seychelles primary supplier to the hospitality industry, ISPC, Mr. Alfred Fourcroy to STA in the presence of Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St. Ange, with Principal Flavien Joubert and General Manager Peter Moncherry at hand to receive the donation.

This year will see the 7th edition of the cooking competition which has been supported in the past by a number of institutional and business community supporters including such prominent chefs like Belgian Michelin star rated Lionel Rigolet.

STA is presently moving towards the completion of phase one of a major expansion and refurbishment programme which is due to be launched before the middle of the year before embarking on the second phase which will add yet more facilities for students to train hands on.
