As the Africa Travel Association’s Annual World Congress goes underway today at Kampala / Uganda’s lake side
conference and resort centre of Munyonyo has the World
Health Organization once again spoke out abut the ongoing
Ebola hype which has, largely as a result of ignorant and at
times deliberate misreporting resulted in blanket cancellations
of travel to Africa.
The geographically misleading statements made by many of
the world’s leading news channels has significantly contributed
to this sad development and tourism to East Africa in particular,
already suffering for a number of other reasons, has now taken
a double hit.
The Africa Travel Association’s proceedings will no doubt
reflect on this but meanwhile here is the UNWTO’s statement
