As Europe has turned its focus this week to sustainability and green best practices so had Reunion joined into the fun this weekend wiht three days of high profile activities.
The island’s people, businesses and tourism industry over the coming three days will celebrate the Festival Vaniy, aimed to preserve and protect the often unique biodiversity on the island and the wild landscapes in the interior, which often have hardly been touched by man.
In fact is Reunion one of only 34 designated biodiversity hotspots around the world, all the more a reason to be alert to the dangers of pollution and environmental degradation.
The highlights of the weekend activities were just shared by IRT, Ile de la Reunion Tourisme, which is at the forefront of participating in the events:

Friday, June 5, 2015
- 8:30 am: Nature River Shipyard in St. Louis. Waste collection and urban awareness with students from College Creek, the Civis and environmental urban cleaning services of the municipality of Saint-Louis.
- 14h: Kozman Lagreg. Project social and solidarity groceries in private gardens. Development of community gardens in the territories concerned.
- 18h: Balance at coconut corn mill in St. Louis Filo Kozman led by the philosophical circle Reunion, neighborhood associations and the cultural department of Saint Louis (on reservation).. Eco-hiking in the Park of the Colossus in Saint-André, walking and waste collection on the coast. Entertainment and booths day.
