(Posted 19th October 2026)

Tanzania has issued a formal Ebola travel advisory following Kenya’s confirmation of seven Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) cases, directing all travellers entering the country to comply with a set of health measures at borders and points of entry.

Tanzania’s Ministry of Health issued Travel Advisory No.18 on October 17, 2026, responding to confirmed Ebola cases in Kenya

All travellers entering Tanzania must complete an online health surveillance form before departure and undergo screening at entry points

High-risk travellers face a mandatory 21-day follow-up monitoring period under the new measures.

The advisory, designated Travel Advisory No.18 and dated October 17, 2026, was issued by Grace E. Magembe, Permanent Secretary of Tanzania’s Ministry of Health. It outlines a series of screening and monitoring protocols applicable to all inbound travellers.

‘Following the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and a recent case in Kenya of a patient travelling from the DRC, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (URT) has expanded its public health requirements related to international travel for incoming travellers in line with the International Health Regulations (2005) as amended in 2024, and the Tanzania Public Health Act of 2009,” the advisory stated in part.

Although all present 7 cases of Ebola in Kenya are under quarantine are similar additional travel advisories expected from other countries in due course, following the initial such advisory from the Seychelles and now Tanzania.
