Tee it up with Dale Hayes and SuperSport in Swaziland at the Nkonyeni Lodge and Golf Estate

Nkonyeni Lodge & Golf Estate in Swaziland is situated on 1200 hectares of gorgeous bushveld overlooking the great Usuthu river and surrounded by Lubombo mountains. Nkonyeni offers Swaziland’s premier 18-hole championship golf course for all golf enthusiasts and on the 14th July 2016 the Hayes Classic Series is coming to Nkonyeni Lodge & Golf Estate.

The Hayes Classic Series is a golfing series run by South African born professional golfer, Dale Hayes who has long been a household name amongst golf lovers, in collaboration with SuperSport. Since 1969 Dale Hayes has been winning golf championships, beginning with the age 15–17 Boys category at the Junior World Golf Championships in 1969. He turned professional the following year and quickly launched his successful career. He has won more than a dozen events in South Africa, and was runner up in the South African Tour Order of Merit in 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1979. In 1974 he won the World Cup of Golf for South Africa in partnership with Bobby Cole.

At the age of 18, Hayes won the Spanish Open, making him the youngest winner on the European Tour (1975 Swiss Open,1978 Italian Open, French Open,1979 Spanish Open), a record which he held until New Zealand Golfer, Danny Lee, won the 2009 Johnnie Walker Classic.

By 1973, Dale Hayes was fourth on the European Tour Order of Merit, improving to second in 1974 and first in 1975. He also finished in the top four in 1978 and 1979, but played little professional golf after his late twenties.

Although Hayes is no longer playing tour golf, he remains involved in the sport in a variety of ways such as the many golfing events he runs every year. The Hayes Classic Series is one such event and there is no better place to host this event in Swaziland than the Nkonyeni Lodge & Golf Estate.

Nkonyeni provides a unique experience in its cozy thatched chalets nestled in the bush on the river bank or in its stylish self-catering pool villas. Each pool villa has a lounge, kitchen and four stylish fully furnished en suite rooms which can be booked separately or together to accommodate groups.
