- (Seychelles News Agency) – The Seychelles islands’ latest 5-star hotel, Savoy Resort & Spa, opened its doors on Beau Vallon beach on the main island of Mahe in mid- May.
The 6,300-m² hotel has 163 rooms, a business conference centre, two restaurants, a beach bar, fitness centre and a spa which has a Russian steam room.
The new resort’s biggest attraction is the Seychelles’ largest hotel swimming pool with 700 m² of space for immersing the body from the heat of the tropical sun, that’s for those who don’t want to walk a few steps onto one of Mahe islands’ most popular beaches, Beau Vallon.
SNA correspondent and well known Seychellois singer, Joe Samy, shares his impressions of the new resort, where he performed recently for finals of the Miss Seychelles..Another World 2014 contest.
Here I am seated with my guitar on my lap with a glass of wine on one of the VIP tables of the majestic Savoy Resort on Beau Vallon Beach. Wow! What a monument lit to copy our natural sunset there.
I have once again made my way in to sing something the artistic director suggested to the Miss Seychelles Beauty Pageant 2014 that would be suitable for me to render. I turned and glanced at a historical catwalk where our Regatta People or “Bazaar Labrinn” would happily gather. Where am I…? Las Vegas? No Mr. Samy… you are sitting as close as ever to the longest and most popular beach in the Seychelles.
A childhood environment where you have observed and what has made you what you are today. This area where is embedded the Savoy is a cultural and sentimental venue for many, and I am no exception. Many of us have fallen in love here in those free natural surroundings… and God knows how many songs have been inspired from this mythical environment.
Savoy is a high quality trade mark hotel worldwide but it is this time erected on the cathedral beach and community of Beau Vallon. This is where for the first time in Seychelles I have tasted fresh oyster bathed in sea water… and for the first time I have happily discovered that at the helm of this resort is Derek Barbé who is the only Seychellois General Manager of a 5 star hotel in Seychelles. What a wonderful professional! I wish to congratulate the owners for giving Savoy such a local dedicated touch.
Finally I sang my song “One more sunset in the Seychelles” though I was not a contestant, after listening to the accomplished music of my dear friend Ralph Amsbury and his friends.
Amidst this hospitable atmosphere the summit of this Savoy Beau Vallon show, Miss Camilla Estico magnificently and humbly held the crown of Miss Seychelles 2014 at this reputable brand new 5 star hospitality establishment on one of our most popular landmarks in the Seychelles.
As a television journalist I have covered all the Miss World and Miss Seychelles events in Seychelles from my dear Miss Diana Hayden from India to Miss Linor Abargil from Israel our Agnes Gerry from Seychelles. I believe that Camilla Estico Miss Seychelles 2014 is definitely a Miss World.
But, to get back to our fresh Savoy oysters, I would wish that our unique savory smoke of freshly grilled mackerel straight from its traditional Beau Vallon would add this local Seychelles perfume and tasty thing to Savoy. Will the oyster beat the mackerel taste? I think Camilla Estico Miss Seychelles 2014 crowned at the Savoy Hotel on Beau Vallon Beach can make her choice! After all Savoy hotel has gracefully hosted over its 500 curious fine guests for its virgin opening event.
