#UCAA announces the reopening of the main runway at #Entebbe International Airport

(20th April 2022)

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority in the early evening announced the reopening of the international airport’s main runway, which was closed since the wee hours of the morning after a landing aircraft swerved off the runway and ended up in soggy ground.

ATCNews received multiple enquiries throughout the day about the status of the airport’s operations as a result of what has been described by readers as a ‘totally inadequate information situation‘ after both UCAA and related social media accounts were shtumm and failed to provide timely updates.

Hundreds of passengers wanting to leave Entebbe were stranded for hours at end, many desperate to get accurate and timely information, which was sadly lacking.

Empty skies over Entebbe …

Airlines are now reportedly scrambling to accommodate passengers from Entebbe who missed their original flights with a similar situation for flights into Entebbe which had been diverted to other airports in the region.
