UGANDA’S SECURITY FORCES DEPLOY IN FULL FORCE TO FREE KIDNAPPED AMERICAN TOURIST
(Posted 03rd April 2019)
Information has come to light that yesterday late afternoon, an American tourist and his Ugandan tour guide were abducted by four armed men. Other occupants of the safari vehicle were left stranded standing in the game park but managed to contact the lodge which immediately swung into action and rushed a rescue vehicle to their location.
Meanwhile was an alert triggered which saw Uganda’s tourism police force, Uganda Wildlife Services rangers and a number of Uganda People’s Defence Forces deploy almost instantly, beginning to comb the bush and follow tracks.
While the Ugandan tourism fraternity has condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms, as has civil society at large, has the Ugandan government vowed to leave no stone unturned to safely rescue the kidnapped person and bring the perpetrators of this crime to book.
The Inspector General of the Uganda Police and the Uganda Police Force have issued an additional statement a short while ago, providing additional facts of the incident and security forces have now widely deployed between the Ugandan and Congo border, where Queen Elizabeth National Park is located.
Once additional information becomes available will updates be posted here.
