| Vietnamese authorities have seized 1,193 kilograms of elephant ivory that is said to have been illegally shipped from Africa. The ivory was hidden in sawn wood in three container shipments. Kyodo News quoted Sunday, August 16, saying that as many as 221 pieces of ivory were announced and shown to the media on Wednesday at Quy Nh?n Port, Gia Lai Province, central Vietnam. An inspection last week found the ivory hidden in the wood. The three containers were known to have arrived on July 9. |
