The 53rd Paris Air Show 2019 goes underway this coming Sunday 16th of June and continue until the 23rd of June. The venue is Le Bourget Airport in Paris.
All leading aircraft manufacturers will be on site and the event is regularly the platform for the signing of purchase orders by airlines.
Information received from a regular source has suggested that Kenya Airways may place an order of up to 25 Embraer E190-E2, the second generation follow on model of the successful twin jet which is already in use by the airline.
Given Kenya Airways’ cash position is the deal likely to be backed by an aircraft leasing company – both Aircap and Air Castle have been mentioned.
If the deal materializes will Kenya Airways pave the way for both fleet expansion and fleet renewal and questions are already being asked about the fate of the intended Boeing B737MAX order given the negative publicity this aircraft type has received in the recent past. With the B737MAX now grounded for almost three months, and the likely rejection by passengers when the aircraft is eventually cleared to resume flights, is it anyone’s guess how airlines with this aircraft on their fleet or on order will react, when their passengers refuse to fly with it.
Updates from the Paris Air Show and any major aircraft deals signed will be covered by ATCNews through social media announcements.
