Zanzibar tourism stakeholders set for conference tomorrow

ONE DAY CONFERENCE TO SHOWCASE ZANZIBAR’S ATTRACTIONS FOR TOURISM INVESTORS

(Posted 19th October 2016)

Zati, short for Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors, is set for a one day conference, taking place tomorrow, 20th of October at the Park Hyatt Hotel in the old town.
The theme was given as ‘Doing Business in Zanzibar – Tourism for All‘ and the conference will bring together both public sector and private sector to showcase opportunities for local and foreign investors to come to the Spice Island and take advantage of the good reputation of the island among tourists.
The event comes hot on the heels of the cancelled S!TE, the Swahili International Tourism Expo which was due to take place earlier this month in Dar es Salaam and was inexplicably not taking place.
Companies from Zanzibar also exhibited and attended the just ended Magical Kenya Travel Expo in Nairobi where they promoted and marketed the island and attracted many trade visitors from among the hosted buyers Kenya invited for the event.

  1. Hi Wolfgang

In the last few days I have spoken to two top people in the safari business in Tanzania. Both told me that they see Tanzania tourism is down by 35-+45% compared to last year.
Many reasons for that, but for sure the new President did not help. Could be interesting to see what you could find out.

    Kind regards
    Bo Finn Poulsen
