FASTJET SECURES REGULATORY APPROVAL FOR MORE ROUTES
(Posted 28th August 2019)
More routes and additional frequencies, that is what Fastjet Zimbabwe had applied for and which was now granted to the airline by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.
New route include among others Victoria Falls to Maun in Botswana, the springboard to the Okavango Delta and another iconic African destination.
Another link now permitted is Victoria Falls to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania, equally linking two iconic destinations.
Finally does Fastjet Zimbabwe now hold permission to fly from Victoria Falls into the heart of Krueger National Park, making multi country and multi attraction visits by foreign tourists a reality one could not have imagined a few years ago.
Notably is it Zimbabwe which has granted such routes first, having embraced SAATM, short for Single African Air Transport Market which on African Union level calls for the full liberalization of air transport across the continent and has, as far as Zimbabwe is concerned, born fruits already.
Additional frequencies granted to Fastjet are for the routes from Harare to Bulawayo, up to three flights per day, from Harare to Victoria Falls, also up to three times a day and from Harare to Johannesburg, up to six flights a day.
Landing permits in the destination countries will depend on bilateral air services agreements and the respective licencing processes and procedures.
