30TH OF JULY IS D-DAY FOR ZIMBABWE’S POST MUGABE ERA

The government in Zimbabwe has yesterday formally gazetted the date of the upcoming general election and named the 30th of July as the day when parliamentary and presidential elections will be held across the country.
President Mnangagwa will stand for the office of President seeking an elective term after taking over late last year from disgraced ruler Robert Gabriel Mugabe who was pushed out of office by a broad coalition of ZANU PF rank and file.
In the very unlikely event of a run off being required for the position of President has also that date been fixed for the 08th of September.
Zimbabwe’s tourism industry and economy in general has seen new wind in their sails since Mnangagwa has taken over and it is widely expected that once he has secured an election victory further measures will be taken to stimulate the economy by departing from the failed policies of the former regime.
Tourism stakeholders in touch with this correspondent have already signalled their high hopes of better days ahead as the country has emerged from the political cold and seen a massive rise in visitor numbers over the first part of this year.
