Africa’s aviation sector continues to expand its global footprint, driven by fleet modernizations, strategic route expansions, and enhanced passenger services across key regional hubs.
According to the latest 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, these ten carriers lead the continent in passenger satisfaction and network connectivity:
Ethiopian Airlines (#1), EgyptAir (#2), and Air Mauritius (#3) lead Skytrax’s 2026 African rankings, serving as the continent’s primary intercontinental gateways through major fleet expansions and global transit hubs.
Royal Air Maroc (#4) and RwandAir (#5) secured top regional positions, leveraging their Casablanca and Kigali hubs to seamlessly connect African cities with key destinations across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
South African Airways (#6) and Kenya Airways (#7) anchor legacy network positions, driving major long-haul routes and vital regional trade corridors across Southern and East Africa.
Low-cost carriers FlySafair (#8), Fastjet (#9), and LIFT (#10) round out the top ten, driving regional air travel accessibility and affordable domestic flight options across Southern Africa.
