#AirSeychelles elevates Remco Althuis from Acting CEO to full appointment

REMCO ALTHUIS TAKES PERMANENT CEO POSITION AT AIR SEYCHELLES

Air Seychelles earlier today confirmed the appointment of Remco Althuis as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Board members of both shareholders, the Government of Seychelles and Etihad Airways have approved the appointment.

Jean Weeling – Lee, Chairman of Air Seychelles Board said: “We have been working with Remco for over eight months now and with his wealth of experience in the aviation industry I am confident that together with the Air Seychelles team, he will continue to drive the airlines’ transformation plan forward. The air travel sector is becoming rapidly competitive and to meet the challenges, Air Seychelles will continue to focus on growing its regional and domestic operations to further strengthen its position within the Indian Ocean. With his extensive skill set and proven track record in leadership role, Remco will continue to capitalize on opportunities to improve the core business of the airline and to lead Air Seychelles into the next phase of the transformation plan.”

Mr Althuis responded saying: “It has been an honour working with the dynamic team at Air Seychelles over the past eight months and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead Air Seychelles forward. We started the year on a difficult path, with the re-organization of the airline ensuring Air Seychelles is fit for purpose to prosper, and as a people-focused business moving forward we will continue to emphasize on the aspects of safety, innovation and sustainability to develop our business further in addition to concentrating on the arrival of the new Airbus A320neo aircraft set to be delivered mid-2019.”

With an aviation career spanning more than 25 years, Mr Althuis started his career at KLM where he worked across various functions including ground services, e-commerce, revenue management as well as sales and marketing.

Joining Etihad Airways in 2012 he was appointed as the General Manager for China, overseeing the expansion of the airline’s route network in the region and driving revenue growth in Greater China, before moving up to the Regional General Manager Europe position.
