| Safety in the news Flight Safety Foundation white paper “Learning from all operations” Our partner, the Flight Safety Foundation (FSF), recently released a white paper on Learning from all operations. “While there is a lot to learn from unwanted incidents, learning must wait for something to happen. In today’s complex, integrated #aviation environment, that’s not good enough. Learning from ALL operations, and not just those that go wrong, is critical in an increasingly interconnected and complex aviation system. | Study on Work Related Stress in African aviation The AviAssist Safety Promotion Centre – Rwanda has started what is believed to be the first ever research into Work Related Stress in Africa. Work-related stress can have major implications on one’s wellbeing, performance, and flight safety. Very little is known about the role of work-related stress in African aviation. “We focus on cabin and flight crew in this study to help us help employers better look after their mental health,” said Felicien Izaturwanaho, coordinator at the AviAssist Safety Promotion Centre in Rwanda. “We can only improve our support to mental health with their help”. The study is conducted in co-operation with Trinity College Dublin-Centre for Innovation in Human Systems, the University of Rwanda-Centre for Mental Health, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (Aviation Academy) and the University of Amsterdam. |
