The Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton’s midscale yet affordable global brand of hotels, today celebrated the official opening of Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi Airport. The 175-room hotel marks the arrival of the Hilton Garden Inn brand in Kenya, and another milestone in Hilton’s airport journey.

Speaking at the official opening of the hotel, Chris Nassetta, Hilton’s President and CEO, said: “I am delighted to celebrate the opening of another fantastic hotel property in Africa, particularly here in Kenya where we have been proud to operate for nearly 50 years. We see tremendous growth potential across the continent, and we look forward to bringing our signature hospitality to more guests in Africa in the years to come.”

The hotel, which is less than 10 minutes’ drive away from the airport and just 15km from the Nairobi Central Business District, offers easy access to Nairobi’s major attractions including the Karen Blixen Museum, The Giraffe Centre, Bomas of Kenya and the Nairobi National Park.

On-site amenities at the hotel include a fully equipped fitness centre, heated rooftop swimming pool, and access to complimentary Wi-Fi. The hotel also offers a wide range of innovative technology extending across payment security, guest room technology and business and conferencing facilities.

This opening of the property has also created 110 full-time jobs at the hotel, as well as opportunities for sub-contractors and entrepreneurs responding to the hotel’s demand for products and services. The hotel’s management team has also launched a training and development programme where team members can actively participate in cross training in other departments, so as to broaden their knowledge and skills.

Lorenzo Baleri, General Manager, Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi Airport said, “Jomo Kenyatta Airport serves 6.5 million passengers every year and we are delighted to have opened Kenya’s first Hilton Garden Inn property here. Since opening, the team and I have welcomed business and leisure guests alike, offering great value accommodation within easy reach of this flagship international airport. Our goal is to grow, develop and promote talent from within the hotel. Our programme has also been extended to young people in hospitality institutes, where we provide internships and mentorship in order to add value to the industry‘.

Hilton currently operates 21 hotels in the Sub Saharan Africa region and continues to grow with a commitment of $50 million over the next five years towards the Hilton Africa Growth Initiative.

The continued expansion of its portfolio in the region sees a further 47 properties in its pipeline, including a Hilton Garden Inn in Kampala / Uganda, a Doubletree by Hilton Pointe-Noire City Centre and DoubleTree by Hilton Kigali City Centre.
