#COVID19 – Updates from #Africa for Africa

(Posted 17th March 2023)

In view of the lower numbers of new COVID19 cases in Africa will this update – at least for the time being – now be filed only twice a week, i.e. every Monday and Friday.

Should case numbers start to increase again on a significant scale will the daily updates expand again to more editions.

This update is sponsored by #BrusselsAirlines, serving #Entebbe / #Uganda – #Bujumbura / #Burundi – #Kigali / #Rwanda in East Africa.

Global overview

682.220.868 Cases and 6.817.257 Deaths as of 17th March 2023

655.125.285 cases have recovered.

These global figures are, as a result of China not reporting accurate case numbers and deaths, not considered to be accurate though data from other countries and in particular from Africa are thought to be more reliable.

The mortality rate stands at 1.00 percent

Note: Some African countries are yet to file their daily updates
