Do you love Africa? If yes, read on …

Travel Africa is preparing for the next edition of its acclaimed magazine and here is a preview of things to come …

Jambo! We’re putting the final touches to the articles and images we’ll be featuring in our new edition of the magazine (going to print in a couple of weeks time) and its been really fun discovering "unexplored Africa" as well as showcasing some of our favourites – we can’t wait to share it all with you!

Making a little go a long way

It’s a question I’ve had hissed at me by uncertain fellow travellers all over Africa, and one I’ve also often been moved to ask awkwardly myself: "Should we leave a tip and, if so, how much?" By Philip Briggs.

Loud and proud

Can you describe the sound of the African bush? Cliché demands such timeless classics as the majestic roar of the lion or haunting cry of the fish eagle. But just close your eyes and listen. Behind the greatest hits is a chorus of clicks, grunts, yelps, barks and whistles – all of them meaning something to somebody. Mike Unwin zeroes in on a few of Africa’s more notable noisemakers.

If you love Africa, subscribe or renew your subscription without delay and be in with a chance to WIN "Small One"

If you subscribe, renew, or extend your subscription to TRAVEL AFRICA magazine for two years or more before the 21st of March, 2016, you’ll go in the draw to WIN this bronze resin elephant sculpture, courtesy of UK artist Julia Cassels (www.juliacassels.com), worth GB£750.

This wonderful little elephant is part of a limited edition of just 18, and measures about 14cm in height. Julia drew her inspiration for the sculpture when she was in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia, last year, and she says "He was always messing around, going from one adult to the next, vying for their attention. He’s called "Small One" because he was so young, and couldn’t even control his own trunk yet!"
