#Fancourt golf courses close down for play due to fires surrounding the town of #George

SOME OF #SOUTHAFRICA’S TOP GOLF COURSES HALT PLAY DUE TO FIRES IN THE GEORGE AREA

(Posted 30th October 2018)

In response to the severity of the fires surrounding the town of George and parts of the Garden Route and the decision by George Municipality advising residents to evacuate Blanco Golden Valley, Step-Aside and Fernridge for precautionary reasons, has the Fancourt Estate released staff living in these areas to ensure the safety of their families during this critical time.

As further precaution were all the three golf courses of the estate, The Outeniqua, Montagu and The Links closed until further notice. High temperatures on the Garden Route are further reason not to encourage golfers to play golf under such conditions.

Guests staying at Fancourt or The Manor House have been given the opportunity to move to neighbouring hotels and guest houses, should they prefer.

The Fancourt Estate reiterates that all action taken so far is for purely

precautionary reasons and there is not reason for any panic. Fire-fighters

from the town of George and surrounding areas continue to manage the situation.

As soon as the situation improves will further information from Fancourt be published here.
