Jambo from all of us at Gamewatchers in Nairobi !
As winter comes to an end, for many people now is the time to think about planning an overseas holiday.

So we thought you might like to have an update on the news from Kenya where there is now a renewed feeling of optimism and where thousands of our international visitors have been enjoying some wonderful wildlife viewing recently!

This optimism extends to the economy, the safety of our tourist visitors and the conservation of our wildlife which is so important for the livelihoods of many Kenyans involved in our safari tourism sector:

  • The economy is actually booming here in Kenya, underlined by latest reports showing that Kenya now has the THIRD fastest rate of economic growth in the world!

  • Previous concerns about safety issues a year ago have been greatly allayed by security enhancements made in recent times to address the terrorist threat which affects so much of the free world today and to prevent possible terrorist acts in Kenya, while the fears by some of our potential visitors that Ebola might spread beyond West Africa have proved to be unfounded.

  • Strides have been made within Kenya recently to counter the onslaught by poachers that is wreaking havoc on elephants and rhinos across many parts of Africa fuelled by the massive international demand particularly from the Far East.

  • The future outlook for wildlife in Kenya has greatly improved in recent years with the realisation that while expanding the area of protected habitat for wild animals is vital if they are to survive, this can only be done if the communities which own the land set aside as wildlife conservancies can derive benefits which match or exceed alternative forms of land use.

  • Our parks, reserves and conservancies are teeming with wildlife today and the thousands of international visitors from all over the world who have been on safari in Kenya recently have been unanimous in saying they would love to return and will be unhesitating in recommending a visit to Kenya to their friends and family! The latest message we have seen from the British Foreign Office this month indicates that they hope that British and other visitors will continue to enjoy the many beautiful areas of Kenya that can be visited on safari.
