OUT WITH BEST WESTERN AS FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON TAKES OVER

The rebranding of the former Best Western Premier into a Four Points by Sheraton in Nairobi’s Hurlingham suburb is now complete and the hotel opened its doors today with, as before 96 rooms, meeting rooms, restaurants, pool and gym.
Given this correspondent’s visit to Nairobi over the past few days could a life report been filed from on site but instead this has to take place from my own lakeshores outside Kampala as I flew back from Nairobi to Uganda last night.
Mr. Vivek Mathur, who also managed the hotel under the former Best Western Brand, reportedly said on opening this morning: ‘By introducing a Four Points property, we expect to attract travelers familiar with this popular global brand and everything it has to offer. We are confident that the hotel will emerge as a preferred choice for travelers looking for stylish accommodation and a relaxing atmosphere whether they are on business or on leisure‘.
According to information sourced from elsewhere is it understood that a second Four Points by Sheraton will open in due course along the airport highway in Nairobi and also, as reported here before, additional properties in Dar es Salaam and Arusha will come on line later this year. Brand conversions will take place after the two hotels in Tanzania have undergone substantive refurbishments and modernization while the Nairobi hotel is a brand new development.

Brand owners Marriott, which merged with Starwood Hotels last year – Four Points by Sheraton is a Starwood brand – is also in the early stages of constructing a JW Marriott in Nairobi which is due to open around 2020.
