Happy Republic Day to Turkey and Turkish Airlines

TURKISH DELIGHTS ON TURKISH NATIONAL DAY

(Posted 29th October 2014)

In today’s competitive environment where destinations and airlines are pitted against each other trying to outdo and outshine each other, it is now almost the norm to pool national resources and use significant dates to stand together and showcase what is best from ‘home’.

It is in this spirit that the Turkish Embassy in Kampala joined hands with Turkish Airlines, flying daily between Istanbul and Entebbe, to partner with the Kampala Serena Hotel to celebrate the Turkish National Day today – congratulations to the government and people of Turkey – and present the country by offering ‘Turkish Delights’ and more.

The Turkish national carrier flew in chefs for the occasion, and considering the significant increase in trade relations and travel between the two countries, the Serena gardens will no doubt be filled to the brim with guests, helping the hosts to celebrate and helping themselves to some genuine Turkish culinary offerings like canapés’ and Turkish sweets.

That not enough has Serena then added a Turkish evening of their own tomorrow, combining a Turkish art exhibition with a laden Turkish buffet, to the sounds of a Turkish Jazz trio also flown in by Turkish Airlines.

Said a source close to the Turkish Airlines office in Kampala on condition of anonymity for not being the official spokesperson of the company: ‘Events in Turkey like the Republic Day are important occasions which bring all Turkish expatriates and their business partners and friends together. The national airline, besides the embassy, are at the heart of preparing for such events in our host countries. Turkish is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, a leading member of Star Alliance and flies to the most countries around the globe. Africa is an important area for Turkish Airlines, not only to promote travel and trade between Turkey and Uganda and other countries but also to position the airline as a global carrier using Istanbul as a transit point to fly anywhere on the globe. We wish our Turkish partners a happy Republic Day and our guests tonight and tomorrow to enjoy Turkish hospitality and Turkish specialties’.

Can’t argue with that approach at all – and all left to say is for the invited guests to enjoy the Turkish Delights.
