(Posted 29th August 2014)

Changing times and changing technologies have led to changed market conditions and IRT, Reunion’s tourism board, has clearly gone with the times when they decided to train the island’s tourism stakeholders in the use of the latest techniques to become ‘tech savvy’.

Notably was a Google Adwords training session held yesterday in St. Denis at the offices of IRT to promote the use of the application among tourism businesses and professionals.

Thirteen hoteliers attended a Google Adwords training offered by the IRT as part of learning how best to use the e-tourism platform to advance their businesses and promote themselves more effectively via web based initiatives. Company representatives from the Palm Hotel & Spa, Iloha Seaview Hotel, Hotel Le Victoria, Le Kerveguen, Le Boucan Canoe, La Ferme du Bel Air, Hotel des Neiges Hotel Creoles, Tropic Condo Hotel Le Relais Treetop, Archipelago and Villa Delisle, were able to learn all there is to know about the Google Adwords tool in this exclusive training session.

The program, which offers a commercial SEO, is a key tool in generating web traffic. It is now a necessary investment for companies to gain visibility, increase awareness and showcase their services and produce results in the common search engines. On the agenda for the day were: Create a Google Account to use Adwords, design research and display a campaign, overview of targeting options (by site, demographics, keywords), tips for writing effective ads, Indicator Update Key performance (CPC, CPM, CPL) and analysis tools.

All participants were certified by IRT and the trainers to have successfully completed the course and as a result of further interest shown by other stakeholders will more sessions be held in the future.
