A first for Bujumbura and Kigali as Fly Dubai announces flights from Dubai

FLY DUBAI ANNOUNCES FLIGHT SCHEDULE FOR ENTEBBE, KIGALI AND BUJUMBURA

(Posted 29th August 2014)

Fly Dubai has announced that besides Entebbe in Uganda they will combine the daily flights between Dubai and Uganda with onward connections to Kigali, three times a week and Bujumbura, the latter with 5th freedom traffic rights, twice a week.

Entebbe, Uganda’s principle aviation gateway will get daily flights with departures from Dubai International Airport (DXB) depending on traffic days varying between 07.55 hrs to as late as 16.10 hrs with two of the daily flights returning directly to Dubai, on Wednesday and Sunday while the other flights will route on to Burundi and Rwanda before commencing the return journey via Entebbe.

Flights to Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, will route via Entebbe and can uplift passengers and cargo under traffic rights granted and operate every Tuesday and Friday. Fly Dubai will be the first Gulf carrier expanding to Burundi, a bonus no doubt for the East Africa Community’s smallest country with the least flight connections of the five member states.

Flights to Kigali will also route via Entebbe but without traffic rights between the two airports. This is the first entry into Rwanda of a UAE based airline, though Qatar Airways has been operating daily flights for a while now. In turn is RwandAir also flying daily from Kigali to Dubai, with some flights routing via Mombasa. Kigali flights operate every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
