If we recognise a face while clicking through channels on TV, many of us will stop and listen. Celebrities exude a positive aura and people like them (in most cases). Their persona appeals. Usher Terry Raymond IV, Usher to you and me, is Kreol’s cover feature. Usher is, undoubtedly, one of the world’s best-known and successful singers and songwriters. Born and raised in the American South, Usher’s roots trace to the Creole Culture of Haiti. Usher is one of many who, after attaining “celebrity” status, engaged in philanthropy. Dwight Yorke, “The Smiling Assassin” of football fame, rose from abject poverty in Trinidad & Tobago, using his talent to build an international career in footballer (aka soccer). Now retired, Dwight Yorke’s new career is “giving back to society”.
